3 Tips to Help Keep Your Toddler Safe This Halloween

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Halloween is a magical time for young and old alike. It is a time when it is okay to pretend to be someone else and scare the dickens out of friends and family. Help make sure your Halloween is safe for your toddler this year by following these 3 simple tips.

1. Get your friends together and organize a Halloween party for the kids. Or at the very least go to organized events with lots of kids. And then chaperone them and don't let them out of your site.

2. Never allow your tots to go door to door and get candy from strangers, even if you are the person taking them. Most people are good and honest. but it only takes one nut to ruin your child's life, and yours.

3. Keep costumes loose and comfortable. Masks that cover the face are okay for older kids but can be frightening to toddlers. You can easily find costumes for small children with mitts, shoe covers, bodysuit and open face hoods. They look adorable and your little bundle of joy will love wearing it.

Now imagine your precious little one dressed in a favorite costume. Happy and safe with people you know and trust. Playing games with other toddlers, running comfortably, laughing and giggling.

And when the night is over, taking that precious little child home. All tired out, happy, smiling while asleep, then tucked away in bed. You will be making memories and building traditions you can enjoy for generations to come. Not to mention all the photos you will be sharing with your family. You know, a parent never gets tired of hearing someone say, "oh look, how cute!" when sharing pictures of their children. Even 20 years later it is still heart warming.

I urge you to take these tips to heart. With a little fore thought and planning you can make this a safe and happy holiday.

The Growing Trend of Halloween Decorating

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Throughout this guide, you will be introduced to the growing trend of Halloween decorating. In today's market of decorations created to add to the appeal of certain holidays, Halloween is considered to be a rival to the popular Christmas decorations and decorating activities that individuals indulge in.

Marked by technological advancement, innovation, and sophistication, the decorations that we use to enhance the appearance of our lawns, our home, and our businesses are rapidly gaining in popularity when it comes to implementation at Halloween. Individuals that purchase these decorations may choose from standard decorative items, electrical embellishments, inflatable ornaments, and even battery operated adornments! Ghosts can now be seen flying across the dark, ominous night sky. Zombies are now fully animated with movements, and evil sounds. Frightening fog emerges from the depths of evil. It is true - Halloween is now in the forefront as a leader in growing trends when it comes to spooktacular decorative items!

Despite the fact that there are many technological advancements when it comes to Halloween decorations, many of the original, or "Vintage" decorative items are being sought after. Ornamental items that were commonly seen in and around homes from the 1920s to the 1960s are in an unusually high demand this Halloween. One of the main reasons that individuals seek out these items is because that is a challenge in itself. It is actually considered to be quite rare to uncover such decorations as the pumpkins designed in the honeycomb shape constructed of tissue paper, or the basic skeletons and witches carved from standard cardboard. However, many people thoroughly enjoy the search. These rare adornments were created in such a way that they brought fear upon those that laid eyes on them.

There is a man by the name of Gerard Arduino that authored the book called "Holiday Love and Madness". This author states: "finding such decorations in today's marketplace especially near-mint condition, is fast becoming a rarity". In the past decade, Arduino started to notice more and more vintage based Halloween pieces coming back into the market. As a result, he found himself highly interested and joined the many individuals that enjoy such memorabilia. Unlike Christmas items that are typically saved for many years, individuals have never quite placed an emphasis on saving items related to Halloween. Therefore, many standard pieces may be worth hundreds of dollars a piece or more!

In today's market, there are many venues that are listed on the internet that make it easy to uncover vintage based Halloween decorations. Websites such as eBay, Amazon, and those similar in nature allow individuals to acquire old, original Halloween items. Individuals who remember these decorations often experience a sense of nostalgia because it reminds them of all the fun that they had on Halloween.

Many even remember specific decorations from their childhood. Items include that of cut out Halloween costumes, cardboard Masks, pin up skeletons, flying witches, and more! If you are interested in seeking out what is considered to be "vintage" or "classic" Halloween costumes, use the following steps to assist you:

o First, you will want to pay special attention to the original manufacturer of the Halloween decorations that you believe are vintage. The names of "Beastle" and "Dennison" are some of the original companies that produced these types of products.

o If you discover Halloween cut outs, you will know that they are pretty old in age if they have an image printed on just one side and the backing consists of thick cardboard.

o If you come across books that are called "Halloween Boogie Books", it is important to know that they are exceptionally rare. They are catalogs that detail items when they originally were placed on the market. When reviewing decorations in this type of book, you will be able to determine the original date of release and the original price associated with the decorations.

There are many places that will specialize in selling older Halloween costumes and decorations. The internet is a wonderful place to find such items. However, there are other areas where you can locate items as well. These areas include antique stores and malls, yard sales, flea markets, and dealers that specialize in community auctions. All it takes is a little research, knowing value associated with vintage decorations, and some time and you, too, can find valuable decorations for Halloween that are considered to be vintage among collectors.

Halloween Tips

Halloween is a time for tricks and treats. Halloween is a time meant for candy and sweets.
Halloween is not the time to put any new lawn ornaments that may be dear to you in the front yard.

Regarding pranksters, Halloween is also a time to hide the eggs and toilet tissue from the children that are prone to playing pranks.
Those kind of tricks can be quite messy and costly.
Halloween is a time to dress the kids up in their fantasy. Well, unless you have strange kids who request President Bush Masks. That is a joke, by the way! Looking at the price of costumes now days I know why some parents used to send their children out trick or treating in sheets! My word.

For a good Halloween scare go candy shopping. The price of candy is enough to give you a fright!
In this article you will find some useful and safe Halloween tips.
My Halloween tips are: always provide the kids with a sturdy bag to place their candy in. Nothing is worse than a child trying to carry all their treats because the bag tore.
Always have some soothing hot chocolate waiting at home to calm down a child who got frightened by that talking pumpkin that your neighbors put at their front door. Yes, they thought it was funny but, your child may have nightmares until adulthood.

Be ready for that wiggly tooth to come out in the hard as your head candy apple they received.
I am betting most of you take kids to trick or treat places you know and trust so I won't even mention the need for examining the treats carefully. It is hard to do this if they eat most of the candy before arriving home.
Keep the front and back yards well lit all Halloween night.

For kids:
Reflective costumes, a yes. All black costumes, a no.
We want them to be seen, it is Halloween, for goodness sake.
Haunted houses are in. Having a pumpkin carving contest is out
Bobbing for apples is a risk and I would not try that with kids.
Let the kids know that giving a neighbors' dog a Halloween buzzcut is not a good trick!
I think that is about it, except you may want to hide the black cat, if you have one.
Some kids are just plain mean. Must be the season?
Oh and remember that a piece of pumpkin pie does not equal a treat. Not to a child.
If you have no candy to give, just hide. They will go away someday.....
Happy Halloween!

Are You Looking At Your Relationship Through A Telescope Or Microscope?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When girl meets boy, and they begin a new relationship with each other, they tend to look at their partner through a telescope. They only see the qualities, traits, habits and behavior that they want to see. For whatever reason, they fail to observe early signals regarding those qualities and behaviors that they either don't like or want to see.

When love is failing, the same boy and girl tend to see each other through a microscope - micro-managing every trait, attitude, quality or behavior. It is almost as if they are looking for stuff not to like.

This simple illustration, both the relationships that are beginning and those that are failing, will repeat themselves thousands of times today.

Why do people fail to see the other person clearly in a new relationship and why do we lose tolerance of even the simplest behavior in a relationship that is in trouble?

There are three simple concepts that impact all relationships. They are: People only change when they feel a need to do so. People are always changing. Relationships are dynamic and evolving. Most people in a new relationship put their best foot forward. They want to make a favorable impression on the other person. However, sooner or later, the Masks come off and the REAL person will show himself. This often happens early in a relationship, giving the other person a quick glimpse into who the other person really is. In order to not feel that you have been broad-sided by new behavior of the other person, it is critical that you observe carefully both what is said and what is not, what the person does, as well as what they don't do, and how they behave, as well as how they don't behave.

There are always clues. Not to see them, or to see them and hope they are only temporary, is to be naïve. To believe he/she will change them with time is to live in fantasyland.

One of the best recommendations I can make in any new relationship is to pay attention to early signals - both the ones given and the ones that are there that you, for whatever reason, don't want to see.

We are all capable of changing behavior, but we don't do it because our partner wants us to or thinks we should. We change when we are ready and not before. To believe that your partner will change according to your wishes is to assume that your behavior, attitudes, life outlook or whatever is either right or better than his/hers is. There is no such thing as right or wrong behavior. There is only different behavior, attitudes, feelings and so on.

Ideas For Halloween Costume

Image : http://www.flickr.com

No matter what you want to be for Halloween, of course you want to make a dramatic statement whether you want to be sexy, funny, or scary. Along with trying to make a decision, the anticipation mounts. The fun comes when you begin to change your appearance into the creature or character you have chosen. As you look in the mirror and begin to see your face change into a ghoul, a witch, or a sexy devil the excitement mounts more. Finding the perfect Halloween costume or mask to add to the excitement will be even more fun.

Do you know where the idea of wearing costumes for Halloween originated? The Celts were the first to don costumes with the belief that the spirits of the dead came to earth on Halloween night. In most cases, the ghosts were nothing to be afraid of however, some were very unfriendly toward the living since they were still alive. To hide from these spirits, the Celts donned costumes and painted their faces with soot. From then of course, Halloween costumes have developed into a large variety of spooky and even funny costumes.

Before you go searching for that perfect Halloween costume all over town, start by searching online. You can find a larger variety online than you can in the majority of stores, thus you will have a better chance to find a unique costume that will be different than your neighbors. It might be very embarrassing if you both show up wearing the same costume or if you wait too long and end up wearing a dorky costume.

Of course, the costume is not the only thing you will need transform yourself into the character you desire. You will need wigs, make-up, mask, or other accessories. A ghost or zombie costume will not be the same at all if you do not have a white face or a face that looks utterly dead. You could choose to go with a mask; however, Masks of course do not look realistic and can take away from your Halloween costume.

Halloween makeup is also for children. Masks make it harder to see and are more of a hindrance than wearing makeup. You can find non-toxic makeup for the kids and then throw on a wig and they will not look like themselves at all. The same goes for you. You can look as sexy or scary as you desire with the right Halloween costume, makeup, accessories. Water based makeup or theatrical makeup works best.

Remember, you can always add different accessories such as jewelry, knives, chainsaws, vampire teeth, blood, or other things that will enhance the effect of your Halloween costume. No matter what type of costume you desire you will be able to find the perfect makeup and accessories to add that personal touch or that scary atmosphere.

Awesome Halloween Superhero Costumes and Masks

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Anyone who has even a passing interest in movies and television surely has noticed the incredible rise in popularity of superhero films. Why are superheroes popular? Part of the reason is they symbolize the eternal struggle of good versus evil. Also, superheroes embody a number of traits that many find admirable. Then, there are those who have fond memories of heroes from their childhood. This perpetually stimulates their interest in these heroes. For some, it's just the fact that superheroes are downright cool that makes them appealing. So, it is no surprise that superhero movies are popular and should be even less surprising that superhero Halloween Masks are perennial favorites. And, yes, there are a huge number of superhero Masks and costumes to choose from.

The main producers of comic characters are Marvel and DC. Needless to say, they have spawned some excellent Halloween Masks and costumes...

Without a doubt, Marvel Comics significantly change the face of comic books and superheroes with a radical approach to changing superhero clichés. Marvel created some of the most memorable original characters in history including Spiderman, the Incredible Hulk, and the Fantastic Four. How great were these characters? Well, not only do their books still sell tremendously to this day they have also been featured in some the most successful film franchises in history. So, if you show up to a party dressed up as a top Marvel character such as Captain America, you can't help but look great. These classic Marvel characters are greatly loved and that's why they make fantastic Halloween Masks and costumes.

DC Comics have been around since the 1930's and have spawned three of the most popular heroes in all of pop culture: Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. While many of DC's characters are no longer at the current popularity level of Marvel's characters, certain DC heroes still remain iconic. So, you really can't go wrong wearing a Batman costume or Halloween masks of one of his enemies such as The Joker. Then again, you can even wear the costume of one of DC's cool "B Grade" heroes such as Green Arrow or Green Lantern. They look quite stunning as well.

While comic books are definitely the source of a number of unique and original super heroes, many amazing heroes experience their origin in another medium. In the days before television, radio was the primary entertainment medium. During the golden age of radio, a number of amazing heroes were born. Two of the most popular were the Green Hornet and the Lone Ranger. (Lone Ranger Halloween masks never go out of style) To this day, both of these heroes remain incredibly popular as Halloween costume choices. Then, there are other classic heroes whose popularity is owed to the film industry. Flash Gordon may have started as a weekly newspaper strip, but it was his appearance in old movie serials which cemented his popularity forever.

Really, there are no limits to the number of popular superhero costumes. As such, they always make a safe and fun choice for Halloween masks.

The Truth Behind Costume Masks

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Costume Masks have progressed far beyond simple Comedy & Tragedy Masks they are now part of popular culture.

Whether it be Halloween, Mardi Gras, or a Masquerade Ball if you don't have your mask on your not completely dressed.

They are anything but a recent invention, Ancient theater was greatly dependent on them. The now famous image of two Masks, one joyful and the other sorrowful, is linked with the classical Greek theater, back in the times of playwrights like Sophocles and Euripides.

In those times, masks were used to differentiate the good from the evil, the hero from the villain. However, as time progressed, masks became decreasingly popular on stage. Later, playwrights such as Brecht and Cocteau did their bit to re-introduce them. Yet, masks had by now moved away from the world of performances and had begun its journey into popular culture.

Today they are taking on an entirely different characters other than "Phantom of the Opera Masks" they are used almost entirely for entertainment. Mask wearing previously confined to Halloween, Mardi Gras & Masquerade is now common at any large gathering. Satirical masks are by far the most common, poking fun at politicians & the famous alike.

Halloween masks have become very sophisticated, molded with liquid latex the styles are so numerous you can find masks ranging from your favorite film to your favorite animal.

Masquerade Ball Masks by contrast add elegance to the wearer the Venetian designs can vary drastically from a simple masks on sticks to highly elaborate masks incorporating Gold, Silver & Feathers.

Costume Mask.org Features a selection of both Halloween, & Masquerade Ball Masks.

Halloween Scrapbook Ideas - Let your Imagination Go Wild!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Scrapbooks are a great way to keep the memories alive and to write down a journal to put your feelings and emotions in words and retain them for posterity. Halloween is a time when the whole family gets together to celebrate and party. One may want to save some of the memories of the special times in the form of a Halloween scrapbook page. Many themes and ideas can be used to design a scrapbook. Since it is a special one for Halloween, you may want to have a funny or scary theme, to suit the occasion. Scrapbooks are a big business nowadays, because many people want o store their memories for the future. Therefore, it will be quite easy to get ideas by conducting a search on the Internet. You need not stick to ideas from the internet; you can add your own inputs to the layout and theme. A few ideas for scrapbooks may help you get started.

As stated earlier, you can have a theme for your scrapbook, something based on Halloween. For example, you could theme the page around your daughter's costume that she had worn for Halloween; maybe she was a dressed as a princess. You could have the layout in light pink color with princess motifs, very typical of a princess's line of thinking... You could give a funky title for the page based on something to do with a princess.

Another Halloween scrapbook idea would be to focus on a specific event like a visit to the local pumpkin patch. You could have various shades of orange for the layout, with pumpkin cutouts on the pages. You could describe your trip to the pumpkin patch, explaining what you saw or did there. You could put a title that says something like 'Pumpkins, pumpkins, everywhere?' Be imaginative while creating the scrapbook page.

If you want to opt for a scary theme for the Halloween scrapbook page, there is nothing like putting ghost faces on the page. You can also have scary looking Masks or cut outs of witches put on the page. Pictures of your kids dressed up in scary costumes, stuck on a background of a haunted house can be one such idea. Think creatively, there is no limit to the imagination. Take chances by being a little adventurous and outrageous in creating the Halloween scrapbook page.

You can search the Internet for great Halloween scrapbook ideas. You will also find many scrapbook message boards on the Internet and you can utilize these to convey some message through the scrapbook. Halloween scrapbook ideas from the web can help you design a great scrapbook to commemorate your Halloween celebration and your special memories. Again, imagination is the key to have a truly unique Halloween scrapbook that you can be proud to display.

Star Wars Galaxy Party Plan

A Star Wars party is a classic - it keeps getting bigger and better with age! From age 5 - 50 every little boy wants to have a Star Wars party at some time! So roll up your sleeves and Let the force be with you...

Invitations: You can make your own invitations on black card stock paper. Write with a white gel pen or use your computer to help you using this script - "A LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR AWAY A BOY OF DESTINY WAS BORN" "THIS YOUNG JEDI WILL CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY IN A GALAXY NEAR YOU..." A really cool site that has a free download of the the font used in the introduction of the Star Wars movies is galaxyfaraway.com. This site also has free Star Wars music and movie audio clips. Another great site is the official Star Wars website http://www.starwars.com which leads to my next invitation idea. Go to the "Kids" section and then type in the search box "Halloween Masks." What you will find is a variety of printable character Masks. Choose one or several of the Masks to use as your base for the invitation. Follow the printing instructions and assemble as required. Attach the party details with a request to wear the mask attached to the string or place the 2 items in a large envelop. Mark the envelope TOP SECRET and seal with a Star Wars sticker. You can choose to print the full coloured Masks or opt to use black and white and have the kids colour them in for the party - a colouring contest of sorts. Either way - Very Cool!

Decorations: The party table can be adorned with licensed Star Wars tableware and decorations. Other tables like the food table and gift table can be dressed up with black tablecovers, lime green moon rocks(to follow) and those plastic glow in the dark stars that can be found at any dollar store. Put out your child's Star Wars toys and figures around the room for both decoration and play. Give your area an Outer Space feel. Cut out stars from heavy stock tin foil and hang from ceiling with fishing wire. Decorate your walls with funky looking planets made from coloured construction paper with silver & gold glitter to make them look out of this world! Hang posters and pictures of your childs favourite characters. Gather a bunch of ordinary rocks of all shapes and sizes, paint them lime green and place all around party area to resemble moon rocks. And Finally, you can't forget the asteroids. Asteroids can made with pieces of styrofoam cut to shape and painted or by hanging brown, tan or gold balloons from the ceiling with fishing wire. Be sure to draw lots of cracks and crevices on the balloons with a black sharpie before blowing up. In keeping with the licensed partyware, stick with colours like red, orange, black and metallics for the balloons, streamers and any additional decorations.

Crafts: Make your own Light Saber. This is a pretty easy craft if you do not mind some pre-party planning. All you need are pool noodles believe it or not. Cut a full length in half giving you 2 Sabers. Because they are so wide you will need to carve in a handle with an exacto knife. Make T shaped cuts 4 inches in and 1 inch deep all around one end and then very carefully remove the pieces. The handle does not have to be perfectly smooth because on party day it will be up to the kids to choose their colour, decorates the shaft with multi coloured markers and wrap their handles with coloured electrical or hockey tape to give their Light Saber a good grip. Make sure their names are written on their creation! If you have a crafty bunch, set up a table where they can build their very own planet. The supplies needed are Styrofoam balls, paint and brushes, glue and some decorations like glitter, beads and sequins. First have them paint their planets. During drying time have them name their planets by taking the first 4 letters of their first name and the last 4 letters of their last name and placing them together. What would yours be? My son's would be Sethbald! Have them write their planets name on small pieces of paper and then staple on to a toothpick. Now its time to embellish the planets with decorations of their choice. When all is dry and they are off to the next adventure, be sure to push the toothpick into the Styrofoam and attach a piece of fishing wire with a thumbtack so the guests can hang their very own planet in their very own room!

Games: Now that each child has their very own light saber, play "Keep Up The Meteor." Tell guests that the evil Darth Vador has set off a meteor shower to destroy planet earth and it is their duty to to prevent the meteors from hitting earth. The prep for this is simple; blow up a bunch of balloons, turn on the Star Wars soundtrack and have the kids form a circle. Start with one balloon, and then another and another until you have thrown in 1 balloon for each kid. If they can keep up just 1 balloon for the length of a song or a timer set to 3 minutes - they will save the Earth! A really fun thing to do is have an adult dress up as Vader with a mask, cape and light saber. Have the young Jedi Knights battle Darth Vador with their very own light sabers. It may get a little rowdy but the kids will love it! If you have an older group, Star Wars trivia is always a big hit but if the group is a bit younger try playing "Shapeshifting." Shapeshifters are dark side creatures that can change into different forms or characters. You will need - Star Wars music and 2 large bag filled with funny clothes, costumes and accessories. Gather the guests around in a circle, turn on the music and ask the kids to pass the bags around. The players holding the bags when the music stops must reach in, pull out an item and put it on. Game ends when all items are gone. Very silly and very funny! "Galaxy Hunt" - The villanous Darth Vador has stolen all the Galaxies treasure and hidden them within Star Clusters scattered around the Galaxy. It is up to each young Jedi to search and find 5 star clusters and report back to mission central. If even 1 Jedi is unable to complete his mission it is up to all young Jedi's to help out their fellow trainee. When all missions are complete the Star Clusters may be opened to reveal their treasure. The Prep for this game is to wrap different pieces of candy with tin foil making odd shaped balls. Hide around the "hunt area" only 5 clusters for every player. Make it a little difficult - you want the young Jedi's to have to work for their treasure! A good idea is to give each child a loot bag with their name on it to hold their treasures when they return to mission central.

Lootbags: If you have played the Galaxy Hunt its likely you already have a bag filled with candy. Complete the guest loot bags by throwing in some Glow Sticks, Pop Rocks, Silly Putty, Glow in the Dark Stars and some Star Wars favors. Ebay is a great place to find large lots of Star Wars favors and trinkets at really reasonable prices. Finish off the loot bags with a Jedi Knight certificate letting the guests know the have passed their training and completed all their missions. A free printable certificate like the one shown on the left can be found at the website 123certficates.com in the "sci-fi" section. You can easily dress it up by printing it on blue paper and filling in the symbol with colour and silver glitter.

Of course you can do it the old fashioned way with glue and newspaper strips but, nowadays, paper mache is mixed in a bowl just like you were making dough. It comes in a powdery mixture which is a dream to work with. Once it has been mixed, it holds the same texture as soft clay. It's amazing! Also, paper mache masks do not have to be lumpy and bumpy. Using this type of paper mache allows you to create a smooth, even finish.

You can add almost anything to a mask design. Decorative materials can include pearls, beads, rhinestones, ostrich feathers, peacock feathers, roping, bells, fringes, glitter, tassels, mirrors, stones, lace, sequins, satin, ribbon, etc. Of course you can also just get very creative with paint alone.

2007 Movies Set Costume Trends

Halloween is big business, and it begins long before pumpkins are carved and houses are decorated in October. Costume and decorating manufacturers such as Disguise and Rubies launch their new products well in advance of the season. Costume retailers must place their Halloween orders in the New Year, and therefore the suppliers have to know what is going to be a hit.

They look to the movie industry to see where trends are going and create costumes and accessories that fit the bill. Movie releases from 2007 will have a huge influence on costume trends for this year. Pirates will undoubtedly be the largest costume trend for the season. With the release of Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End this May, the 3rd instalment of the franchise, eye Masks, swords and tri-corn hats will be in huge demand by retailers.

Other franchise instalments include Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Spiderman 3. Wizards and superheroes are always popular costumes, but the spring/summer releases of these movies it top of the mind for Halloween.

Another popular trend in dress-up and movies are zombies and the undead. There has been resurgence from the 70's genre zombie horror movie and in 2007 we see zombie movie sequels including 28 Weeks Later, Day of the Dead and Resident Evil. Horror makeup, prosthetics and fake blood will be in high demand by retailers and consumers.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or TMNT is being released in March while a contemporary Nancy Drew will be out by the summer. Rob Zombie's Halloween, promises not to be a remake or a sequel and will introduce Mike Myers to a whole new audience.

The movies of 2007 will inspire the costume choices of its fans and lead the trends of this Halloween season.

How to Look More Weird and Insane on Halloween!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

This occasion is celebrated with great enthusiasm in European countries but from last few years kids and adults are taking active part in this activity. This occasion is also known as the scary event in which everyone has to transform himself into a weird or scariest getup. Most of the people design their own products but a lot of them buy such items from online or local stores.

Talking about its history then the event was celebrated by Pagan and in their language it was known as Samhain. People of that time believed that the spirits of their dead ones come back to their homes on this night. So, people used to dress up like dead people o hide themselves from dead and also use a basket of foods as offerings. The costumes used at that time were very simple usually made-up of a mask that resembles a fierce animal.

With time the popularity of this event grew world widely and many Christians also start celebrating this event with great passion. From that time, people find this activity as a source of enjoyment and the celebration of this event was no more a religious practice. With time, when the occasion got popular in America, adults used to celebrate this event by organizing different parties and they used to wear different horrible Masks and clothes.

Time changed and some people start celebrating this occasion with their kids and families and in this way they occasion became more popular. Halloween Craft: Make Halloween Masks with Paper Mache

You'll need just a few things to make just about any mask you can imagine. Those items include balloons, newspaper, wallpaper glue and some acrylic paint. A pair of sharp scissors comes in handy to cut out eyes and mouth. Wear old clothing, or put an apron on both you and your child. Making the mask can get a bit messy.

Cover your work area in plenty of newspaper to protect it from glue and paint. Next, cut several newspapers into strips. Blow up a balloon so it is slightly larger than your child's head. Now dip a newspaper strip completely
in the glue and stick it on the balloon. Continue doing this back and forth until you have the entire balloon covered in several layers of newspaper. Work out any wrinkles as you go along. The more layers of newspaper you have, the sturdier the mask will be.

Finally add any features specific to the mask you are making. For example, if you are making a frog mask, sculpt two ball shapes at the top of the mask that you can later paint as eyes. If you are making a cat, dog, or monkey mask, form the snout and of course don't forget about ears. The only limit is your imagination.

Allow the mask to dry completely, preferably over night. Once it is completely hardened, start cutting into the mask to pop the balloon. Cut a large enough opening so your child can get his or her head inside the mask, then cut eye and mouth openings. For younger children, you may prefer to cut
the back of the mask out completely, and, instead, wrap a piece of ribbon or yarn around the back of the head to secure the mask to allow better air-passage.

Paint the mask in a solid color and allow it to dry completely. Then add details like eyes, nose and lips in different colors. Once that coat of paint is completely dry, it is ready to wear. For a longer lasting and shiny mask, cover the mask in several layers of hodge podge before using it.
