Michael Jackson Halloween Costumes

With Halloween fast approaching, a lot of people are wanting to use the opportunity to pay homage to the King of Pop. In this article, we're going to give some possible ideas for a Michael Jackson outfit!

First, let's talk about some of the different options that we have to honor the King of Pop! Michael Jackson's amazing career has given us more than just a couple of options, but here are some of our favorites:

The Thriller Costume. This costume is not only classic and recognizable, but completely appropriate for Halloween. Wearing MJ's red and black Halloween getup will make you a hit at any party -- but if you're going to go for it, we encourage you to go the whole way! That means the sunken looking makeup, and if you can pull it off, the full Thriller dance!

The Bad Costume: This Michael Jackson Halloween costume has an advantage that many of the others don't, in that you can wear a lot of the parts of this costume year-round. The style set out my MJ in this music video are still present in today's punk rock counterculture, and if you're into that sort of look, you can keep using the different parts of this outfit when you're going "punk." Accessories range from gloves and boots, to a belt and jacket.

The Smooth Criminal Costume: What is quite possibly my personal favorite, the classic outfit worn in Smooth Criminal is just as classic as outfits from other music videos. It may seem less generic, being an all-white suit and hat, but with appropriate style and makeup, you should be instantly recognizable. If they still don't catch who you're supposed to be, then call them Annie, and ask them if they're okay.

Modern Michael Jackson outfit: The look from Michael Jackson's later years is very recognizable, and the one that's been present on the media the most. A lot of people are selling costumes that can make this Michael Jackson Halloween costume an outfit one that you could pull off without having to buy a lot of extra pieces! After all, he was frequently just wearing a suit and sunglasses. There are also people selling Masks, but with how unflattering these Masks are, I would personally take those as disrespectful.

As I mentioned, these are just some of our favorite ideas! Costumes from "Beat It" and "Billy Jean" are also options, as are his more classic look from the 1980s, or even just throwing on a glove and grabbing yourself while shouting "I'm bad" Whatever sort of Michael Jackson Halloween costume you decide to go for, the biggest faux pas this year to avoid is that of in any way attempting to portray the late great King of Pop as a pedophile. I want to remind everyone that those allegations were not only never proven, but the psychiatrists evaluation made things very plain! Michael Jackson didn't abuse kids. He was a kid himself. He had been robbed of his childhood to stand in the lime light, and we're the ones who gained from that. Disrespecting him and his memory is something that should be avoided at all costs, especially in the year of his death.

So long as you obey that rule, your options are basically endless! Try mastering some Michael Jackson moves, and vocal styles, in addition to the Michael Jackson Halloween costume, and you're sure to be the hit of whatever Halloween party you go to.

Michael Jackson in Billie Jean As a Halloween Costume Idea

Billie Jean was one of Michael Jackson's biggest hits and is the first music video to break the color barrier when it was played on MTV. Before the song's release, no other African-American video had been played on air. Billie Jean was more than a ground breaking video though; it was a stylistic, artistic video and with it came Michael's stylish and dramatic wardrobe as well.

With his passing, there are sure to be plenty of Michael fans who will be wearing the look that best captures their favorite image of the King of Pop, whether it was from his childhood or beyond. The Billie Jean look is sure to get plenty of representation this year and beyond.

Regardless of how old you were when it was first released or whether you are a fan or not, the Billie Jean video had something for nearly everybody. Not just a pop song, not quite a rock song, it bridged the gap between the two genres like no other song could and Jackson spanned that gap like no other man could.

This costume starts with the jacket, black with onyx sequins. A black button down shirt with sparkly silver sequins is also included. The costume's look is completed with the included silver sequin glove and matching socks. The jacket and shirt come in adult sizes M-L and the gloves and socks are one-size fits most. You add your own pants and shoes to this costume. For an authentic look, aim to have the pants hit you at just above the ankle like in the video and show off your dazzling, sparkly socks for dramatic flair.

Additional accessories for the Billie Jean video costume include the Michael Jackson wig and make up kits. If you really want to rock the look, practice some of MJ's top dance moves and bring along the Billie Jean music to play as you enter the room for effect. After all, Michael did not get to be the King of Pop because he was shy and retiring and if you are going to pay tribute to the man, you should at least come near some of his razzle dazzle and showmanship.
