HalLoWeeN MasKs

Scream is a series of American horror slasher films which include one of the highest-grossing films in its category. It combines gruesome murders with clever plots and humorous dialogues. It follows the life of Sidney Prescott who is continually the target of a murderer who adopts the character of Ghost Face, and the ensuing terror that follows him everywhere. The movie is widely credited for the invigoration of the horror genre in the 90s, and as a result, the Scream outfit was widely popularized.

The Scream outfit commonly consists of a black hooded tunic with the instantly recognizable Ghost Face mask. In the movie, different antagonists put on the mask to conceal their identity in committing their murders. The Scream costume itself seems to mock the look of terror and surprise on the victim's faces. How to Make Your Own Jigsaw Costume For Halloween

HalLoWeeN MasKs

Jigsaw, the puppet like bearer of bad news from the Saw movie series, would be a rather interesting costume for Halloween and pretty easy to make too. I really love the Saw movies so I think it would be a really great costume, and it's not one you see very often so it would be pretty unique as well.

And it would always be a relevant costume around Halloween too because that's the time the latest installment in the Saw movie series always comes out. And who knows, if you do a really good job at it, that you may even win a prize or something at your next costume party this Halloween.

If I was to dress up as the character Jigsaw from the Saw movies for Halloween, I would probably concentrate on the mask. Now I wouldn't recommend this costume for anyone who was going to be around children however, especially enhanced with any of the further details like a saw, because I'm sure that they or their parents might find it pretty disturbing.

The Jigsaw mask would make it rather evident that you were trying to be him right away. To make the mask I would recommend taking a white mask and then dressing it up with the Jigsaw features. These features could easily be painted on a plain white mask. You can also find the Jigsaw mask at several locations but if you wanted to save money you could make it yourself using some paint and a few other items.

The obvious first features would be the red spirals on the cheeks. Also, the Jigsaw mask is like a dummy mask so there would have to be lines drawn down from the middle of the lips to the bottom of the chin to make it look like that part of the mask would move if the character were to talk. Deep red lips with some red blood dripping from them would also make the mask even scarier if you're trying to go for a scary look.

Other than the mask the costume is quite simple - you could wear mostly black or dress up in a suit as I believe Jigsaw does whenever you see him in the movie. If you wanted to allude even more to the movies you could put something on the Jigsaw costume like something from one of the scenes. The first thing I thought of was needles from the needle pit that they dove into in Saw IV. Although this would be a safety hazard if you used real needles you could just use pictures of needles on your costume or something similar like toy syringes.

I also would think of using a hack saw from the first Saw movie, with chains attached to your legs or something like that. Again though, be cautious and make sure that it doesn't have a blade that could harm people. I think most people would understand that your costume is simply based on the mask though.

So, I hope that if anyone decides to make their own Jigsaw costume that they have a lot of fun doing it and also have a lot of fun wearing it. Jigsaw costumes have a lot going for them - they are not too common, but are creepy as you'd ever imagine. So go rent a copy of Saw and get ready for even more Jigsaw costume ideas.

The Saw series of horror movies are really incredible. But they're not for everyone - and if you're thinking of making your own Jigsaw costume for Halloween then I highly encourage you to check out all you can about them ahead of time. Halloween Costume - Bag of Jelly Beans

HalLoWeeN MasKs

You will need:

white poster board or white contact paper

acrylic paints and a brush or wide permanent markers in assorted colors

glitter and glue, optional

a clear plastic trash bag (30-33 gallon)

2" wide clear shipping tape

scissors

a large bag of balloons in many colors

2" wide ribbon (gold or silver is best)

neutral clothes, or optionally for women, stockings and high heels.

...and you will possibly need someone to assist you in getting into your costume.

Using the poster board or the white contact paper as a base, paint a colorful Jelly Bean Label for your bag of beans. If you wish, you can look online or in stores for inspiration for your costume. The label should be about one foot tall by one and a half feet wide. Gold or silver paint or metallic marker, or glitter can be used to add sparkle to your label.

Carefully flatten your clear trash bag out onto a clean, flat surface. Center your Jelly Bean Label approximately 16" up from the bottom of the bag and affix, using clear shipping tape as necessary. Using scissors, cut two leg holes in the bottom of the bag, and reinforce the edges in an "8" formation around the openings with the clear shipping tape.

To make shoulders to hold your costume up, it is convenient to have "suspenders" made of clear plastic shipping tape. Stick tape to itself in the middle of two long strips of shipping tape. Affix them on the bag far enough apart that you can get into your costume, but close enough together that the straps can rest on your shoulders and hold the costume up. Cut two holes in the sides of the bag for your arms and reinforce the holes with clear tape. Add the decorative ribbon around the top of the bag, and secure with tape.

Now blow up your balloons. Do not fill the balloons too much or they will pop easily. The number of balloons you need will vary. Get dressed and get into the plastic bag, and fit the balloons in around you.

The Top Ten Security Tips for Halloween

HalLoWeeN MasKs

With autumn comes a time to relax and start enjoying quality family time. Halloween is one of those special occasions where parents and children can share unique and magical moments.

People are getting more concerned with potential threat and want to assure the maximal security for their loved ones.

Allow me to review with you the top ten recommendations to insure that you and your family spend a happy and safe Halloween. You can make a game or reviewing these recommendations with your children. Let's say they get one point for every recommendation they can guess or they can draw the recommendation they liked the most and you can post it on your refrigerator.

By observing these simple recommendations, you will be able to enjoy a fun and safe Halloween. Remember it is allowed for parents to disguise themselves as they are passing Halloween with their children. Although your children will pretend to be embarrassed about the fact that you are wearing a costume, they will secretly think you are the coolest parent. Just don't expect them to say it out loud to you!

Here are the top ten tips for a safe and fun Halloween, in random order:

1) It is better to wear make-up than wearing a mask, the visibility can be greatly reduced when wearing a mask, especially if the mask is not a perfect fit for the child.

2) It is always better to pass Halloween with an adult. This parent can stay in the street and will be very helpful to carry the extra bags. Seriously, in case of emergencies, an adult carrying a cellular phone can be of great help.

3) Wearing a bright costume is highly recommended. Although a black, dark costume can have its effect it can easily be missed out by passing cars. A costume in which it is easy to walk is also highly recommended. Smaller children tend to get tired fast at Halloween and can tumble and fall if their costume is too long.

4) Carrying a flashlight or a fluorescent necklace can be very handy and will make children more visible upon walking the streets in Halloween.

5) A child should never pass Halloween alone. Furthermore, even though most people are trustworthy, children should be informed to never go into any house upon Halloween night.

6) Upon passing Halloween, street signalization should still be respected. It is highly recommended to only cross streets at intersections and waiting for cars to go by. After all, although your children are wearing Superman and Spiderman costumes, this does not make then invincible against a car hit.

7) Reinforce to your children that they should never get into a vehicle unless it is yours.

8) When your children arrive from their Halloween treasure hunt, check their candies with them making certain that none contain suspicious matters. Most children will naturally limit themselves to a certain amount of candies. It is somewhat recommended to supervise their ingestion of candies so they don't get carried away and end-up regretting it.

9) It is recommended, upon passing Halloween in one street, to do one side and then the other. This way, the children only get to cross the street once, thus limiting the dangers.

10) If your children are older and want to pass Halloween in group and have forbidden you to tag along (it can happen), make sure you know their route and what time they plan on returning. In our modern days too, it is very easy to trust your children with a cell phone and keep contact this way. You do have to remind them to turn it on before leaving...

Halloween Costume Ideas 2010 - Joker Halloween Costume

HalLoWeeN MasKs

Today, when we hear the word joker especially as a costume idea, we immediately think Batman's arch-nemesis. Very few are aware of or realize that even The Joker's character was somewhat based on these long-ago court jesters. Some call them by a variety of names: fool, jokester, prankster, wit-cracker, or buffoon.

This was an ancient form of employment, very much like stand-up comedians nowadays, and what they do is tell jokes for the monarch and his or her guest and supply that party's entertainment for however long it may last. What many may believe is that these jesters often wore vibrantly colored outfits and peculiarly designed hats with contrasting patterns.

These hats were particularly characteristic and this became more of a symbol of a jester's hat. It is made of cotton or velvet and sewn to have three points, each of which had a small bell at the end which jingles with every movement. Other things typical of a jester clothing or accessory was his mock sceptre, known as a bauble or marotte.

Since the Halloween Costume of a joker or a jester is colorful, any color scheme you may think of will do. Usually, one set comes with the three-tipped hat and those jingly bells. It will also include a tunic with huge collars in different color patterns. A tunic is basically a long blouse that may reach the tops of your knees. You can put a belt around your waist. Tights are worn under the tunic although any color will do as long as it matches the rest of your outfit. Sometimes, gauntlets can be worn as well. It is rare that you'll find a pair of boots that comes with the set and to make it look more realistic, you need to get one that is a bit pointed at the tip. If not, get a pair of shoes that looks like ballet slippers. Have a happy Halloween with this real McCoy: the Joker Halloween costume!

Halloween - Cool Candy Treats

HalLoWeeN MasKs

There is nothing like the sight of opening up your door and seeing those darling little children standing there, waiting for you to put something into their little goodie bag that they'll enjoy eating once they get back to their safe warm home. So the last thing you want to do is disappoint these kids. The question is, how do you do that? Well, hopefully what follows will give you a decent idea of how to handle your Halloween treat dilemma.

Of course the easiest way to solve your candy problem is to go out and get the most popular candies that were ever made. There is a reason why they're so popular. Kids love 'em. We're of course talking about things like Hershey Bars, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way, Almond Joy, Nestles Crunch Bar and the like. You absolutely can't go wrong when you put these top sellers in somebody's goodie bag. And if you want to really bring some smiles to their faces, put a few different ones in. Yeah, it's expensive, but it's once a year. So get yourself three of four giant bags of candy. A great mix is a Milky Way, Nestles Crunch Bar and a Payday because they are all very different candies. This way if a kid doesn't like one kind he may like the other two. If you give him all chocolate and he doesn't like chocolate at all, well, he's out of luck. This way you're basically hedging your bets that he's going to at least find something he likes.

Another way you can go with your Halloween treats is to make your own treats. Yes, this is lot of work and has to be done days in advance, but can you just imagine the looks on the faces of these kids when you're giving them something home made? The only problem with this idea is that you're going to have to make sure you live in a neighborhood where everybody knows you. Why? Well, unfortunately because of the world we live in, it has become very dangerous to accept treats from strangers unless they are wrapped. Sad, but true. So if you live in a place where everybody knows your name, you'll be able to do this without having to worry about kids just throwing your treats in the trash.

Finally, you can go in a completely different direction with your Halloween treats. You can give the kind that kids don't eat. Believe me, they'll have plenty of sugar to get high on. One less candy bar isn't going to kill them. But, if you give them something different, they may just remember your treat above all the others. Some suggestions include money, like pennies or even nickels and dimes; small race cars that you get from a McDonalds or Burger King (you'll have to save up for a while to have enough); even pencils will do the trick for when they have to return back to school.

By using just a little imagination, you're sure to come up with some ideas that will make those little boys and girls very happy.
